Instructor Bios
PHY
Phy has been cutting hair for over 15yrs in the heart of Brooklyn where he learned a great deal. He then took his skills to the wonderful place called “Manhattan”. He worked in one of the most unique barbershops that is no longer around which was Ginger Rose. This barbershop gave Phy endless amounts of personality that enables him to adapt to all phases of haircutting. He loves cutting hair and wouldnt work a 9 - 5 job if you paid him $20 and hour. He’s making more than $80 an hour! He is well trained in all textures of hair and is very quick barber with quality work. He now goes by the name of “Floss” which represents how he cuts hair - Devasting!!!
TONE
Tone is the boss of Matrix barbershop where the barbeshop101 intructors are employed at. His work is very smoothe and knows how to adapt to his clients. He suports his wife and his kids running the barbershop 6 days a week. He continues to say he will always be a Barber no matter what. Working in many shops has given him so much knowledge on how to do all kinds of haircuts. Straight hair, kinky hair, wet hair even no hair. His clients are loyal because tone communicates with them and gives them a nice friendship. I’m honored to be working with someone like him because he brings a sense of matureness that definately helps out an atmosphere inside of a barbershop. Always listen to what he says, he will never steer you wrong.
EDGAR
Edgar is the youngest instructor of the group. He has learned a great deal from the rest of the guys which gives him so much of an advantage when starting out fresh from the start. He is a person that uses humor and a wonderful personality to attract others around him. He has learned how to cut hair faster than anyone i know besides his fellow instructor “shin”. Cutting hair has made Edgar on of the best promoters in NYC. He uses the barbershop as a base for operations especially when it comes time to promote for events. He has a way with the women and they simply love him, some say he has a taste for Asian. He is very easy to get along with and once you get on his good side he will share his knowledge of the hair game with you. He’s a funny guy.
HARROD
Harrod calls himself the “man”. Cutting hairallows Harrod to venture in other businesses like Real Estate. Hes makes his own schedule and can come in and work when he likes because the barbershop industry allows him to do that. Keeps a barbershop entertained with entertaining conversations & GREASE! He uses the barbershop as a base of operations on finding his real estate clients. Speaks his mind and wont tell you anything different so dont mess up any haircuts because he will tell you. Watch him closely and use his technique. He cuts as good as anyone I know and I know alot of barbers.
SHIN
Shin is has been cutting hair for about 3yrs and like Edgar, he has also learned how to cut hair good in short time. Working around the other veterans and listening to some fo the things that they share with him has made him into a fine barber. He also has a good way of getting clients to come and see him for a haircut. Shin has another job in construction where he works mornings, but still works in the barbershop at night. Barbers can make their own hours.
MALIK
I have been in the business for over 20 yrs and has worked with many different barbers from all races, ages, male and female. I’ve listened and watched each barber style and technique so I can have various information on hair. It was rough at the start but I held on and now im so glad im a barber. Theres nothing I cant get if i want because working inside of a barbershop, i meet so many different people in all areas of life. I can cut all textures of hair and have a dream of owning a barbershop all over the world like McDonalds. I would like to give respect to every barber in the world because I know what the industry is about.
JUNE
June is a great communicator and has a way of increasing his clients wherever he works. He’s always up for conversation inside the barbershop and there isnt a dull moment when his working. He’s a comedian all the time when he is working inside of the barbershop. Making jokes and making people laugh. He’s a veteran, cutting over 21yrs and many different shops has made him an excellent barber. He’s an aspiring actor and has met alot of his contacts working inside of a barbershop. He can also teach you a great deal about cutting hair because he’ll take his time and make sure you understand.
